However, it was in 2007 that she had an “aha” moment after being sought out to plan three weddings for close friends -- all in the same year. In doing so, she realized how much she enjoyed helping couples create a memory of their special day and decided she wanted to focus her talents specifically on weddings and to plan them professionally. Tia is an active member of the Association of Bridal Consultants and a Certified Meeting Planner. Shelby Tuck-Horton, Master Bridal Consultant and Chief Event Officer for Exquisite Expressions and Events, Inc., discovered her passion for weddings when her friend asked her to serve as Maid of Honor at her wedding. At the time, she thought she was only performing Maid of Honor duties, but soon found that that her friend preferred basking in the love of being a Bride rather than tackling a wedding “to do” list. With her background and skills as a Program and Management Analyst for the Federal government, she readily took on the wedding planning tasks to help ensure that her friend would have a “perfect” wedding. She wanted her to enjoy her wedding without any concerns or worry. Shelby had found her passion – being of service to others through the planning of beautiful, memorable events.
Becoming very involved in the wedding industry, Shelby has served in many industry leadership positions and has received many leadership and industry awards. She was also one of the first presidents for the Association of Wedding Professionals. She served as the Founding President of the DC Chapter of Wish Upon a Wedding, the world’s first non-profit wedding wish granting organization. She is currently the State Coordinator for the Maryland/District of Columbia chapter of the Association of Bridal Consultants.
